Job Description

The successful candidate will have the core abilities to perform the functions of developing the Systems Engineering of LightSpeed’s Solutions.  These solutions are focused on utilizing Nokia’s IP/ MPLS, Optical Transport, Access, and Microwave Network products.

In addition to the “core” responsibilities of participating as a member of the functional Systems Engineering Team, the ‘Director’ will also be required to consult and lead the members of the Systems Engineering Team, manage the Operations Facility, and liaison to and on behalf of the Accounting Organization for items related to Order Processing and Invoicing.

The LightSpeed Director of Systems Engineering & Operations will interface with our Sales Team, Customers, Product Engineers, Program Managers, and Installation Technicians to Design, Engineer, Furnish, and facilitate Installation & Integrate our solution offerings throughout all program phases of design, development, production, and use.  Maintaining these relationships will aid the Director to help our Customers effectively manage and plan for growth opportunities.

The candidate is expected to work collaboratively, effectively, and must possess proven communication & management skills.  Responsibilities include working in a team environment as both a project leader and an individual contributor.

The location of the candidate is preferred to be Eastern or Central U.S. with an understanding that customer travel is required.

Requirements: U.S. Citizen, College Degree (Engineering preferred) or equivalent work experience (prior work with Nokia preferred); Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; ability to interface with vendor online systems; Networking PCs; Strong Organization skills.

Work Summary

Systems Engineering:

  • Complex Systems Engineering & Systems Integration Planning
  • Solution / Product Recommendations
  • Develop & configure detailed designs
  • Conduct virtual or on-site presentations in support of proposed network solutions
  • Design-based Price Proposals to Purchase Order details (order codes, descriptions, product distribution per site, discount plans, etc).
  • Build technical relationships with our Customers and Partners.
  • Provide Technical Support (Product descriptions, Features functionality details, Product Change Notifications, etc.)
  • Continuous learning to obtain/maintain Nokia Sales Engineer Certifications.
  • Liaison with Project Management personnel as activities of implementation occur Support Sales team for New Business Development
  • Solution / Product Recommendations to grow our overall business.
  • Responsive:  Prompt Support and follow-up to help ensure (improve) Customer Relations & Satisfaction.
  • Comprehension of Corporate Goals; GM% / MU% / Success Probabilities used in opportunity evaluations.
  • Technical Issue Resolution
  • Technical Sales Follow Up & Development (RFQ, RFI, RFP)

Operations:

  • Full understanding of the requirements of the Order Process
  • Maintain LST Order Process adherence
    • Order Fulfillment (PO Placement)
    • Order Delivery (Inbound & Outbound), Staging & PO Tracking
    • Complete Invoice Requests to Accounting (Immediately upon shipment)
  • Monitor RMA & PCN Tracking Reports with Engineering Support
  • Monthly and on-demand Vendor related Sales and Cost Summary reports.
  • Accommodate Project Management needs and resources
  • Inventory management and control
  • Monitor Tradeshow asset maintenance and control
  • Lead development & editing of LST processes as necessary

Accounting:

  • Maintain prompt Invoicing target to complete upon shipment
  • Assure Purchase Order (Customer and LST) Tracking, Job creations and Maintenance/Renewals
  • Support Management of GE & Vendor Invoices & Payments (Daily) – All A/P Requirements
  • Assist with A/R & Delinquent (Slow / No Pay) Accounts.
  • Review Accounting Inputs:  Quotes, Orders, Payments
  • As applicable, maintain support for:
    • CPA Liaison & All Official Accounting to stay within GAAP rules & GE Covenants.
    • All Banking Reconciliations & Reporting as required.

Work Summary

Systems Engineering:

  • Design-based Price Proposals to Purchase Order details (order codes, descriptions, product distribution per site, discount plans, etc).
  • Engineer and configure both IP and optical transport systems, Access & Wireless solutions (microwave, LTE).
  • Formulate complex telecommunication service designs for customers, vendors, and LightSpeed Technologies' staff
  • Cultivate telecommunication solutions that maintain the highest levels of security and survivability
  • Execute complex problem resolution
  • Research, evaluate, and analyze existing and planned network requirements to ensure the improvement of network performance, availability, reliability and blending of with new technology and concepts
  • Responsible for Systems Engineering of recommended Networks
  • Perform detailed design reviews that include key stakeholder participation, test plans, detailed design packages, contingency plans, and test results
  • Document and maintain accepted baseline for Network Performance (includes hardware types, supported operating systems, etc.)
  • Build technical relationships with our Customers and Partners.

Position and sell Telecom Equipment Solutions to Utilities (Tier 1 & Tiers 2 & 3 Municipals / Coops), Public Sector, CLECs / Service Providers (i.e. Carriers) and Large Enterprise Accounts within an assigned territory. Previous hardware sales experience (MPLS, Microwave, Optical DWDM, GPON / FTTX, Access, etc.) is required, all others need not apply.

Primary Job Description

As a Tier 1 Business Partner for Nokia (formerly Alcatel-Lucent), the primary responsibilities of the LightSpeed Territory Manager is to position and close the sale of Telecom Equipment Solutions to Utilities, Tier 2 & 3 Service Providers and large Enterprises which includes – Optical & Data Networking Products, Microwave Radio, private LTE, and other Ultra-Broadband (FTTX / GPON) Solutions within the defined territory.

Key Job Requirements

Requires at least 5 or more years of direct Hardware Sales Experience.

  • Ability to canvas broad territory, develop new accounts and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to Work independently toward predetermined sales objectives.
  • Individual contributor considered an expert within a discipline/functional area.
  • Broad knowledge of industry and competitor trends.
  • Strong business expertise in planning and organizing, decision-making an ability to achieve results while focusing on customer requirements, and business success.
  • Interaction: Multiple interfaces internally and externally.
  • Acts as prime consultant on large projects that affect the organizations long-term goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrates leadership role in forming/maintaining productive working relationships with customers and suppliers.
  • Acts as Corporate resource, industry recognized Subject Matter Expert. Interacts very well with external customers.

  • Set up and work the Regional & National trade shows.
